Founded in 1999 by John O’Connor, (right where Walgreens is now) O’Connor Trailers has become a staple in the community. A long-time resident of Marble Falls since 1976, John O’Connor also established O’Connor Tires and Lube Changers, along with eleven other lube stations across Texas and Kansas. As an iconic figure in Marble Falls, John served as President of the Little League Association, sponsoring a team for over 30 years, and started the playing fields behind Colt Elementary School. He also helped initiate the first girls’ softball program.
John was instrumental in the Coats for Kids project, working with the Lions Club and paying for the cleaning of coats before distribution. He participated in the Toys for Tots program and once bought a storage building with over 1,000 pairs of shoes for the cause. A dedicated supporter of children, John sponsored the Burnet County Livestock Show from 1976 to the present, watching three generations of kids grow and produce their animals.
This year, the John O’Connor Sportsmanship Award will be given to a deserving young person who raises steers and demonstrates good sportsmanship. His legacy continues to impact those who know the O’Connor family. John passed away in 2011, but his family has been there since the beginning and carry on the family business. Patty Kirkpatrick (John’s daughter) and Nancy O’Connor (his wife) still make sure to provide you, their customer with top notch trailers and services.
