With its roots firmly planted in Lockhart, the BBQ capital of Texas, Smokehouse 44 stands out thanks to the culinary expertise of its passionate owners, Clayton and Bryan. Their combined 30+ years in the food industry have culminated in an authentic, mouthwatering barbecue experience that proudly showcases Texas-style traditions.
When we had the pleasure of visiting Smokehouse 44, their barbecue exceeded every expectation. The brisket was remarkably tender and juicy, boasting a flavor that shows an excellent display of the masterful art of BBQ. The sausage packed a satisfying punch, while the generous portions of juicy turkey proved to be a delightful addition. The very large, perfectly cooked ribs were a standout, offering a savory, smoky experience that left a lasting impression.
While every dish was exceptional, the sides took the meal to another level. The banana pudding provided a sweet, creamy finish, but the potato salad truly stole the show. Its rich, hearty flavors were nothing short of spectacular, so much so that we couldn’t resist taking extra servings home for a family dinner over the weekend. Smokehouse 44’s potato salad is, without a doubt, a must-try and a testament to their dedication to creating an unforgettable barbecue experience.
